Look for a fixture that is specifically intended for a sloped or vaulted ceiling when it will be installed on a ceiling plane that is not level. A standard fixed downlight installed on a slope may direct its beam across the room instead of toward the floor. Depending on the fixture, a sloped-ceiling-compatible trim, adjustable optical assembly, or directional model may be needed.

Regressed downlights are especially useful for:

  • General light near wardrobes and dressers
